On Friday September the 27th 2024, the Royal Netherlands Air Force said farewell to the Lockheed Martin F-16 Fighting Falcon after 45 years of excellent service. Eight of the last active aircraft flew a farewell round over a part of the Netherlands. The formation departed Volkel Air Base around 13:00 hrs local time and the Vipers flew over some of the locations where they have been active like Twente, Woensdrecht, Gilze Rijen and Eindhoven. Unfortunately bad weather in the North Western part of the Netherlands prevented the formation to visit Leeuwarden, The Hague and other places. After a formation fly over Volkel the last F-16AM, being ship J-062 with on board the commander of 312 Sqn, touched down for the very last time around 15:30 hrs. Farewell Falcon, thank for safety!
